Our farm is combatting biodiversity loss with sustainable farming, and your support makes that possible.

At our farm, we have adopted nature-positive production practices that work to reverse biodiversity loss, limit climate change, and ensure the production of healthy, nutritious food.

Our goal is to leave the land in better shape than when we found it, employing practices such as organic farming, minimal tillage, and livestock rotation toward the goal of becoming self-sustaining and truly regenerative.

We are Iceland’s only garlic farm, and we also produce top-notch organic carrots grown using farming methods that replenish the soil, protect our air, and water, and preserve precious natural resources.

The farm has undergone many transformations since we arrived, so we could optimize sustainable food production without overburdening local ecosystems including the planting of 50,000 trees to conserve biodiversity, and give shelter for plants and our horses.

In restoring natural resources and ecosystem function, we have helped create a more resilient natural environment that can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also supporting sustainable food production.

A horse-based approach to habitat preservation

Nature’s complex functioning depends on horses as a keystone species. Our herd of Icelandic horses do their bit to help restore our land to its most diverse and dynamic state by grazing in harmony with wildlife and plants, thus preserving our pristine landscape.

Unlike sheep, horses are conservative feeders that consume coarser grasses over other plants. Due to their preference for grasses over flowering plants, rare plant species flourish in areas where they routinely graze.

Our herds have a large area to move around on, and this activity helps disturb soil and create the ideal habitat for essential burrow-nesting insects, while their manure enriches the soil with nutrients.

In addition to helping keep the land healthy, we host many educational tours and events with our horses that provide education, hands-on training, and hands-on experience.
