Rather than simply teaching basic riding techniques, he opened our eyes to the art of communicating with horses through energy and body language. His teaching method was patient and intuitive – he helped us understand that working with horses is as much about inner awareness as it is about physical skill. Under his guidance, I felt myself becoming more present and mindful, not just as a rider, but as a human being connecting with another living creature.
  Riding through Iceland’s breathtaking landscape – with its dramatic mountains in the background, expansive fields, and ever-changing skies – created a profound sense of connection.
  Adding to the farm’s welcoming atmosphere was the view of the beautiful horses just outside the cabins and a friendly cat that seemed to understand that visitors needed some extra warmth and companionship, often appearing at just the right moment for cuddles and purrs. It’s these small, unexpected touches that transform a good experience into an unforgettable one.
  The day concluded with a wonderful dinner, where Mr Iceland described tales of Icelandic folklore, genuine glimpses into Icelandic life and the deep relationship between the people and their horses that spans over a thousand years. The atmosphere was warm, with laughter flowing as freely as the conversation.

The view from the bed was incredible—you could see the horses grazing and moving around, and we loved that we could step outside anytime to pet them.   The horseback riding itself was an absolute highlight. We rode along a stunning black sand beach with dramatic dunes and the ocean in the distance—it was breathtaking!   I stayed in Jakob's Old Farmhouse for 5 nights. It served as a perfect home base for the experiences I booked along the south coast. This charming cottage blends rustic charm (stone walls, wooden beams) with modern comforts (comfortable bed, well-equipped kitchen, excellent shower). Young horses just steps from the door add to the magic—one friendly fellow greeted me with a nicker each morning.
  What truly distinguishes Mr. Iceland is Hordur's approach to horseback tours. He carefully matches horse with rider, sharing each animal's background and personality. His guidance focuses on forming genuine connections with these remarkable animals—a refreshing change from standard tours.
  I joined the black beach tour for advanced riders. This ride traverses Hordur's private stretch of black sand, accessible only on horseback, with the North Atlantic crashing against the shore. Hordur shares fascinating local history and stories while riders wear green capes that add both warmth and enchantment to the journey.
  Though I didn't book the "dinner with a viking," Hordur spontaneously invited me to share wine with him and his visiting friends the evening after my tour —a testament to the authentic hospitality you'll find here.
