Riding has long been how people moved between places and each other in Iceland. This experience follows that tradition: beginning with a calm ride across the land and continuing at the table with a shared meal on the farm.
The pace is unhurried, the horses carefully chosen, and time is taken to learn before riding. It is our most popular way to experience the rhythm of Mr Iceland.

Experience an intimate Icelandic storytelling evening at Mr Iceland – Efri-Úlfsstaðir, the historic home of Njál’s Saga.
Every night at 8 PM, guests are welcomed into the story barn to meet the Icelandic horses, enjoy a traditional Icelandic food tasting, and sit together at the long table as the evening unfolds.
In candlelight, local storyteller Valdimar Flygenring shares tales from the sagas, along with stories of Icelandic traditions, elves, and trolls. It is not a performance, but a gathering: a quiet, personal way to step deeper into Iceland.
This ride follows the open black sands of South Iceland, where land meets ocean and the pace is set by wind and space. It is a demanding ride, suited only for confident, experienced riders who are comfortable riding independently in open terrain.
The landscape is vast and uncompromising. Horses move steadily across the sand, dogs run freely alongside, and the coast stretches wide in every direction. There is no performance here: only movement, balance, and trust between horse and rider.
This experience is offered to those who are ready for it.

Our stay at this horse farm was one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland. From the very beginning, we were introduced to the fascinating history and unique characteristics of Icelandic horses. The team provided excellent guidance and training on how to interact with and care for the horses, making the experience enjoyable and comfortable for everyone.
The horse ride itself was wonderful, and afterward we enjoyed a delicious dinner made with local organic ingredients. The evening was filled with amazing conversations, stories, and insights about Icelandic culture and life on the farm, which made the experience feel truly authentic.
We stayed overnight in one of the cabins, and it was beautifully designed, cozy, and comfortable. One of the best parts was being able to walk around the farm, visit the horse fields, and spend time petting the horses whenever we wanted.
This is much more than just a place to stay or ride horses—it’s a genuine Icelandic experience that we will never forget. Highly recommended!

I cannot say enough, good things about our experience with Hordur And his crew.
From the moment we stepped onto the Ranch we could feel the peaceful respect for the land and the horses
We stayed in Jacob‘s cabin, which was absolutely beautiful.
Both of our rides were absolute perfection. We got a helpful riding lesson ahead of time… It is very apparent that the horses and the people that work with the horses love what they do.

I really appreciated Mr Iceland’s approach to riding, he encourages you to connect with your horse through grooming, a quick intro ride in the arena and then you head out on a stunning trail ride across his farm. After the ride you will share dinner with him at the farm. He served wine, salad, potatoes and leg of lamb (from his own sheep farm). An unforgettable day!

Must do Iceland Experience We have been to Iceland twice and Mr. Icelands farm, housing and horseback riding are all excellent. Definitely one of the best experiences we had in Iceland. Hordur (Mr.Iceland) and his team are great. They provide extensive instruction to assure a safe and enjoyable riding experience. The dinner Hordur cooked after the ride was excellent and we saw the Northern Lights from right outside the cabin in which we stayed. Chapeau Hordur and team, two thumbs up, we highly recommend this experience.

The cabin was comfortable, cozy, and had fantastic views.Our 4 year old enjoyed the morning horse experience, introducing her to horses, brushing, feeding and a small ride. Elina was fantastic, gently guiding and teaching her. We were also able to visit the larger horse herd and the new foals.Overall fantastic experience, would recommend staying a couple days.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the farm. The horses were stunning, and we were lucky enough to have a very special companion — a friendly, talkative, and cuddly cat who joined us on long walks and kept us company for two days. The beds were hands down the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in, and we had incredibly restful nights. This is truly a place we would recommend to anyone looking for a memorable and peaceful stay. As a perfect ending, we even got to see the northern lights on our last evening ✨
